About Fine Arts
Govt.College of Fine Arts, Thrissur is located at the heart of Thrissur town, Kerala. It gives competent wings to the young ones in Kerala aspiring for a career as artist in this world. Art institutions in Kerala have been very instrumental in the lives of many outstanding Indian artists who have emerged from this region. College of Fine Arts, thrissur incepted as a Technical Commercial Industrial School in 1910, has a pride of place among them. More than hundred years of existence has given a unique character to this institution in the history of art institutions in India. As a graduate level art college, we initiate young minds to work with the world and make a life in their own terms, as artists, designers and visual strategists. That includes the systematic imparting of professional skills to make a living also. Our students pick up the fundamentals of art practice from here and grow by themselves around the world.
We offer BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) degree in three disciplines of visual arts, namely Painting, Sculpture and Applied Arts. Our students get solid foundation here to embark on any branch of higher studies and achieve any dream goal in contemporary visual art practice. As a state institution we offer students affordable art education and lots of assistance and support to students from low income groups too. This is one of the three fine arts institutions in Kerala under the technical Education Department and affiliated to the University of Calicut.
